Look: Some things haven’t changed in the series from the previous version and some things have gotten better. First and foremost the lightening is fantastic. The neon glow shines from all around. The most amazing thing is the water on the streets reflect everything well. The detail is stunning.
The character modeling is better than with GTA 3, but still not up to on par with the top-notch character modeling you get from some PS2 games released today. When it comes to the cars there is a good deal of detail in the damage, more so than with the previous version.
Once you jump into the chopper you can see just how amazing Liberty City is. Rockstar put a lot of time and work into this game and you might just have to rip off a chopper to see it.
There are a few glitches and clipping on occasion, overall it looks better than GTA 3.
Feel: The motorcycles were a nice touch, but be careful as they are much harder to ride. After a few bails you might just find yourself avoiding them all together. The chopper is fun for a bit, but hard to handle and there is a ceiling as to how high you can fly.
The game play is much like GTA 3 with a tweak here and there. That is a good thing. If it ain’t broke why fix it?
Hear: The best soundtrack ever? Well if you hate the music from the ‘80s you might think not, however as much as I cringed at first it seemed to grow on me. There is no game yet that has a soundtrack as vast as Vice City. It’s so huge that it took seven cds to capture it.
The sound effects are very similar to GTA 3. I was hoping for a big upgrade in sounds especially with the Vice City theme, but it wasn’t there. It could be said again that you don’t fix what wasn’t broken even though an upgrade would have been well received.
Finally: The only way to end this is to compare Vice City to GTA 3. Vice City have more vehicles, more variety, and a larger scope. Just as the previous version was a must buy, Vice City is exactly the same. Buy it now!
