Guilty Gear X

Guilty Gear X
Game: Guilty Gear X
Platform: Playstation 2
Studio: Sammy
Rating: 9.5/10

Game Company’s Description: In the 22nd Century, warring among the nations continued and a new breed of biological weapons called “Gears” was developed. Gears were programmed to blindly obey the orders given by their commander. One day a rebel arose in the Gear ranks named “Justice.” He enlisted an army of fellow Gears and declared war on the human race.
In opposition, humankind formed the Sacred Order of Holy Knights. The Union of Nations organized an international fighting tournament to select members suitable enough for inclusion in the Order. In 2180, the diabolical Justice was defeated in such a tournament. The remaining Gears were hunted down and eliminated. Humankind was finally free from the catastrophic menace brought on by the Gears…or were they?

Less than a year after Justice’s defeat, another rebel Gear appeared. Rumors flew that each nation was in possession of their own Gears for the purpose of military use, driving anti-Gear sentiment among humans to an all-time high. They would not give up their long-awaited peace so easily, and soon, an announcement was made: “Whosoever brings about the demise of this dreadful Gear shall be rewarded with the lofty sum of 500,000 World Dollars!”
Look: Not too shabby. The 2D backgrounds are quite good. Characters are detailed well and don’t slow down for animations.

Feel: You won’t lose interest because of bad controls here. Handling is responsive and keeps the experience interesting. Combos aren’t tough to pull off and with a good deal of characters to use you won’t get bored in an hour.

Hear: Okay sound effects and soundtrack.

Frankly: GGX is pretty easy, that is bad for the big guys and great for the kids. Even better it is fun for everyone.
