Futurama

Futurama
Game: Futurama
Platform: Playstation 2
Studio: VU
Rating: 5.5/10

Game Company’s Description: Help Fry, Leela, and Bender travel through time to thwart Mom’s evil plans for world domination! Matt Groening, the creative mastermind behind the Simpsons, presents his multiplatform console game, based on the hit animated TV series Futurama. This irreverent parody of the sci-fi genre follows Fry, a twentieth century outcast mistakenly frozen until the thirty-first century, and his new interstellar adventures as a deliveryman. Futurama is a third-person platform shooter, featuring characters and environments from the series. Set in the cartoon series’ futuristic universe, it features all the main characters from the TV show, including Fry, Leela, and Bender. Each character possesses his or her own skills and attributes, resulting in unique and varied gameplay.

Look: There is some okay cell-shading that comes close to the look of the TV show. The 3-D design isn’t really bad. There are some glitches in the design however. The backgrounds look generic and don’t accentuate the characters. The game does contain some actual footage from the show that looks good.

Feel: Each character has their unique moves and attacks. You can play as Fry, Bender, or Leela. There isn’t much to say. It’s a very formulaic game. You have to wonder if they were producing this for a younger audience than it’s fan base. The bosses are too easy to figure out and provide no real challenge. Futurama is quite soft.

Hear: Perhaps the best aspect of the game. The voice acting is fantastic and funny – just like you’d expect.

Frankly: Fans of the show will like this, others shouldn’t waste their time.
