Evolution 2: Far Off Promise is the sequel to the popular first series of the same name, but unfortunately this game doesn’t pick up where the previous left off.
Look:
Evolution 2 looks great, even better perhaps than the first. The characters are magnificent. But looks can be deceiving.
Feel:
Hmmm.. I’d love to tell you that this great-looking game is so much fun to play, but there really isn’t much to do. Walking through the town is ever so boring and the dungeons are just too time consuming.
The bosses and other fights are occasionally entertaining. The spells add some fun to the long drawn out pace. If you played the first game, you’ll know exactly what I’m talking about. There are some really neat spells and you’ll get a kick out of them if you find the time to get to that point.
Hear:
You’ll hear no English in this game. The voices are in Japanese with subtitles. I thought at first it would get annoying, but this was actually one of the pluses.
Finally:
Evolution 2: Far Off Promise sure looks cute, but don’t let that fool you. With all of the repetition and often tiring action, you may find yourself giving up. I wouldn’t blame you. Worst of all is that once you make your way through this, probably in under twenty hours, you’ll never play it again.
