Dripping with atmosphere and changing the look of 3D games forever, Doom III features realistic physics, 6-channel surround-sound, and real-time dynamic lighting and shadows that create an environment of ever-changing fear and uncertainty.
Compete in vicious multiplayer action where light, shadows, and a totally dynamic world can be used to your advantage or peril.
PLAY: The Xbox version of Doom 3 is similar to the PC version and yet it’s terrifyingly different.
Doom 3 is all about destruction with a shotgun. Click, load, and blast. Depending on what of the fence you are this simple aspect of Doom 3 is actually a blessing. You don’t have to worry about a bunch of different things—instead you kill and find more things to kill; simple, but effective.
Because the buildings are so deep and full of places for monsters to hide you won’t get bored. A simple rule; keep your trigger finger ready and keep your nerves in check.
One thing about holding the controller is that you’ll find your hands sweating as the game grows more and more intense. There are attacks that come from nowhere and those hallways that make you want to turn around and head in the other direction. It’s very scary and that’s what makes Doom so good.
You will have different weapons to choose from but it is the shotgun that was my weapon of chose. It kills fast and rarely ever needs two shots to take down a charging enemy.
GRAPHICS: The Xbox version looks brilliant which goes against a lot of ported games. Doom 3 is flawless and it’s unbelievable to think that games will only get better from here.
The Xbox version looks like Doom on steroids. The enemies and animations are spectacular. Even the dark environments and lighting will stop you in your tracks. The fact that you get so sucked into the game as if it were you in the game speaks volumes about how Doom 3 looks.
SOUND: The digital sound makes the game sound as good as it looks. Just as you are drawn into the game with your eyes your ears don’t let you down. The sound effects blast from your speakers and all of the monsters scream with terror and you feel it in your spine.
FRANKLY: There is a Co-op version that allows for you and a friend to wreak havoc on evil. The Xbox version is a fantastic port from the PC and may be one of the finest games recently released on the Xbox.
