Drakengard 2

Drakengard 2
Game: Drakengard 2
Platform: Playstation 2
Studio: Ubisoft
Rating: 7/10

GAME DESCRIPTION: It has been more than 18 years since the world-shattering events of the original game, and the Union has once again appeared, in the guise of a group known as the Knights of the Seal. It appears that the world has found peace, but it is a deceptive peace. Behind the scenes, thousands of powerless people are trampled in the name of the Seal.

Our hero Nowe is a young man, raised by a dragon and taken in by the Knights of the Seal. He has flown the skies on his dragon mount, his sword drawn, all in the name of the Order. His unusual upbringing and skills as a swordsman have earned him something of a reputation among his fellow knights.

Nowe’s destiny changes forever when he meets a certain young woman. Manah has chosen to protect the world by making the world itself her enemy. Together, Manah and Nowe join forces to take on the Knights of the Seal and their legions of warriors in a quest for a true peace.
Game Features:

* Upgradeable characters, weapons and items:
A deeper Drakengard experience with both RPG and action elements. Information gathering now plays a key role.

* Great improvements from the original:

* An epic adventure:

* A unique and fascinating scenario:
The bond with the dragon, the loyalty of friends and the love of those who need protection all come together in a gripping tale. These elements give Nowe the courage to charge headlong into the battle to save the world &but it is a battle where the world itself is the enemy.

PLAY: With a multitude of characters, an interesting storyline, and accessories galore Drakengard 2 has the makings of a hit. What makes the second Drakengard uninspiring is the button mashing.

On the plus side, the story is interesting and keeps you inspired to continue along the path. There are a number of enemies and the different characters that are at your command break up the monotony. Each character has different abilities and if utilized well different characters can be used to succeed in certain situations. One major issue is the fact that the entire game can be beaten without ever switching characters.

Much of Drakengard 2 is slicing through enemy after enemy. Every area has the same throng of endless enemies that must be slain and that are the only form of challenge or excitement. It’s only exciting because you are fighting so much that you never realize that it’s senseless. One cool aspect is the dragon Legna. There is nothing cooler than controlling a dragon and spraying fire on enemies.

GRAPHICS: The dragons are the most impressive aspect of Drakengard 2. The environments leave a lot to be desired.

SOUND: Decent voice acting and solid sound effects. The instrumental music is perfect for the environment.

FRANKLY: Drakengard 2 might remind old gamers of the generic and monotonous games we used to play on the SNES and even the old Nintendo. All the games in those days revolved around hacking as many enemies as possible until you get to the boss level. Drakengard 2 is mildly fulfilling and certainly offers a good amount of playtime.
