GAME STUDIO DESCRIPTION: In a ferocious Arctic storm, distress signals are sent from a mysterious Russian whaler. As leading Coast Guard veteran Tom Hansen, you board to investigate – and discover unthinkable horrors lurking beneath the ship’s bloodstained decks.
Game Features:
* Brave dangerous waters: Rocked by huge breakers, you must steady your nerves – and aim – to evade a watery grave.
* Keep your bearings: Battle against increasingly mutated enemies in treacherous, unstable environments.
* Unleash a torrent of weapons: Create fatal traps and use shotguns, flame throwers, or any object you can find to survive.
PLAY: With a handgun and submachine gun you’re ready to tear through some serious zombie flesh. Each gun comes with a light on the end so when you enter those pitch black rooms you can find those flesh eaters. The dark rooms add a lot anxiety and sweaty hands. And always remember—zombies only die with a shot to the head so make each shot good.
The zombies move slow but when the close in they get much quicker. One issue is there are a lot of zombies and you can’t always blow your way through without taking some hits. This would be a perfect game for teaming up with a buddy or two and blast on through to the end—but this is one player only. Another issue is that there is a lack of variety. Shooting zombies is fun but it gets a bit ho-hum after you’ve done it for a few hours.
There are tasks that must be solved in order to make your way to the end. It takes a way some of the monotony. However there seems to be many occasions where you run around aimlessly trying to figure out what you missed and go door to door trying to search for clues.
GRAPHICS: Zombie brains splatter with a disgusting yet visible delight. The atmosphere is spooky however a lot of the zombies aren’t distinguishable and that increases the monotony of Cold Fear.
SOUND: The sound effects are the weakest area of Cold Fear. The music is nothing short of terrible.
FRANKLY: Guns and zombies usually make for a bloody good time and dark rooms are usually enough to give you the creeps. There is a positive and negative on the 8 hours it takes to finish Cold Fear. It’s good because you can end the monotony faster however 8 hours doesn’t offer a lot of value.
