Ace Combat 4 isn’t just for those who fancy the air.
Look: There are many adjectives that could describe how good this game looks. Wow, amazing, phenomenal, all can be used. If you take a look around at the scenery below, you’ll be even more awestruck. Flying among skyscrapers, in and around mountains, seems almost real.
The planes themselves are designed and animated to the teeth. The outside of the plane is impressive enough as the rudders move in conjunction with your commands and the afterburners flare with a kick of your direction. But in the cockpit there is something special about the actual feeling of being there.
Feel: I’m sure flying in this game is easier than it is in real life. And that is a good thing as it means the learning curve won’t take months. There is more to this game than getting from point A to point B. You’ve got to blow things up on the way. It does take some time to get everything under control, but believe me, there are a ton of reasons why you’ll want to keep on trying over and over again.
Hear: The soundtrack doesn’t get in the way of the game, which in this case is good as you’ve got a lot of concentrating to do. The voice tracks are quite good. I was impressed by the conversation and the importance of actually listening, so it’s good that you can understand and appreciate it. Not to mention that once you really get going, there are some unbelievable things you’ll be listening in on.
Finally: I’ve yet to play a better simulation and I don’t know what more I can say about this game to prove to you that’s indeed the case.
