Game: Aero Elite
Platform: Playstation 2
Studio: Sega
Rating: 7.5/10

Game Company’s Description: Learn from the best and defy the rest in the most realistic flight combat simulator on the PlayStation® 2! Aero Elite is your opportunity to train as a fighter pilot and master the intricate flight mechanics and high-tech weaponry of today’s latest aircraft. Take part in rigorous training, where you will master more than 60 types of aircraft, from jump jets to choppers. Through a wide range of combat scenarios, you’ll hone your skills and perfect a wide variety of difficult aerial maneuvers. These will come in handy as you become intimately involved with radar-guided missiles, heavy machine guns, and terrestrial targets in need of destruction. Are you skilled enough to become one of the Aero Elite?

Look: Very good graphics and sixty planes. It is pretty amazing that you can see the wings spread out on the F-14, wheels spinning when you touchdown, and so many more little detail that you’d never think of. You can tell there was a good amount of time put into the little details and you’ll appreciate every little nuance.

The ground on the other hand doesn’t always look as clean and tight. There are blotches of land that are supposed to be buildings or urban areas. It’s when you get close that you realize its rough, but up high you won’t worry as much about it as you sail into the blue beyond.

Feel: No story here. No world to save or conquer. You train, fight and nothing more unless you smash. There are a few missions that don’t seem to have any rhyme to their reason and you have some tasks that you must accomplish but after a while you find yourself asking; why? The good thing is that you have many options and that adds a significant amount of replay value.

Hear: Very good sound effects. Everything you expect from propellers whipping it up to jet engines blaring.

Frankly: With a good amount of planes and helicopters you’ll find yourself trying them all. If you love games in this genre then don’t overlook this.
