Rating: 5/10

Game Studio Synopsis: ATV: Quad Power Racing 2 is all about big tricks, big boots to the face and big finishes. It’s arcade ATV racing like you always wanted it to be. ATV Quad Power Racing 2 combines 10 of the top pro riders in the world and 40+ real-life sponsors with the fast, edge of your seat, arcade gameplay the fans of the original know and love. Get ready to get injured; ATV Quad Power Racing 2 is coming in February 2003 from AKA Acclaim.

Look: Honestly the game looks pretty generic. The water on the screen effect isn’t all that inspiring. The four wheelers are generic and the character models are just as average.

Feel: You’ve got a button for the gas, break and tricks. Oh and I forgot about the fact that you can kick your opponents off their quad. The riding feels like Splashdown with the shifting of weight over ramps and around corners. It’s just not as smooth as Splashdown.

The tracks are long and occasionally fun. The freestyle area is pretty cool, except it seems like the tricks never want to work. They should be more like Splashdown in responsiveness, but often the tricks never even work. You wonder what in the world is going on. If you hold it too long you end up landing wrong, or if you don’t hold it long enough it doesn’t work. Actually I don’t think it was my, I blame unresponsive controls.

Hear: The soundtrack is actually not that bad. It’s high octane, actually its higher octane than the game itself. The engines in the game sound puny and that’s really about all the sound effects you get except when you crash your driver into something where they release a grunt of pain.

Finally: If you need a game that got it right, although on water, get Splashdown, but if you want a quad racer do yourself a favor and buy ATV Offroad Fury 2.
