Corporate Line: Platinum-selling rap duo Timbaland & Magoo are back with a hot new track, “Cop That Sh#!” The radio single featuring Missy “Misdemeanor” Elliott, is the #1 Most Added Song at Urban Mainstream Radio outlets, and the #2 Most Added Song at Rhythm across the country. The song is already garnering airplay at major radio stations in major markets such as New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Washington D.C. and Miami.
“Cop That Sh#!” marks Timbaland and Magoo’s return to the rap world as a hip-hop duo. The CD titled, UNDER CONSTRUCTION 2 is due in stores early fall.
Known for creating a custom sound for each artist he works with Timbaland has created hits for big names artists including, Aaliyah, Ginuwine, Jay-Z, Jodeci and Missy.
The innovative producer has won awards and accolades, including most recently the ASCAP’s 2003 Rhythm & Soul Music Awards Songwriter Of The Year.
The Good:
“Cop That Disc” f/Missy Elliott – Missy takes it to the hole while Timbaland drops a low roar.
“N 2 Da Music” – Brandy adds just the right touch to get this track over the top.
The Average:
“Indian Flute” – Hot beat, not so hot rhymes.
“Shenanigans” and “Leavin’” – Filler.
“Don’t Make Me Take It There” – Not entirely bad, but when they start dropping the ‘Oh’s’ you have to wonder what they were thinking.
The Ugly:
“Hold On” – Wyclef save this mess.
Frankly: Timbaland is the man when behind the boards. When he steps to the mic it’s not the same magic. Magoo adds little if nothing to this record and all the guest stars let you know these two alone can’t carry a record. Under Construction still sounds like it is in need of a lot more work.
