I don’t know anything about Tin Star, but I have their album here to review. Dilemma? Not really. I can do this.
The American – Old school rock that might garner some AC/DC comparisons.
Dirtybird – Why these guys like to start with something that sounds arty and then go straight at the rock artery is beyond me. It works because you forget what they try to pull, but it could have been done well without.
Sunshine – Are they rock or are they techno? A quandary. Better when they rock.
Lolita – These guys are all over the place. Now they invade Radiohead’s territory.
Angel Of The North – Now they bum a clip from both Duran Duran and the Propellerheads.
Pacify – Could care less.
Grey Hotel -Sounds like the Doors took some old B-sides and let Portishead remix them.
Glimpses – So distorted and overproduced, I have no idea if I like it or not.
Why Do You Love Me? – Okay, they aren’t Sly And The Family Stone, but they try to give it a go. Way short.
Treacle – Cool beat.
Far Away – It’s sweet, but it isn’t going to knock your socks off.
Conclusion: Find a group to cover and stick with it.
