Corporate Line: The Beautiful Letdown is about real life: the good, the bad, and the ugly. It’s an honest attempt to reflect on the great and terrible aspects of being human, the tension of existence.
The Good:
“Meant To Live” – A lovely rock track. A bit ordinary however.
“Dare You To Move” – You’ll want to have more.
“The Beautiful Letdown” – Switchfoot seems to have a handle on writing tracks that are quite lovely.
“Gone” – Very hooky and easy to sing along to.
“Twenty-Four” – Splendid ballad.
The Mediocre:
“This Is Your Life” and “Redemption” – Not overtly bad or great.
“Adding To The Noise” – Fun.
The Bad:
Nada.
Frankly: Switchfoot are a great find. If you are looking to shake up your boring cd collection with something new than you’ve found it.
