You know Nelly, but do you know the crew he’s been running with since before his pants sagged? Well, the St. Lunatics are back together and they are dropping their co-op release Free City hoping to pick up where Country Grammar left off.
“S.T.L.” rolls of the tongue like the Nelly release that took the world by storm. You can tell the crew went to the same school of hip-hop rhyming. “Okay” is not different. The melodic style is sure to burn up radio dials for some time to come, but even more candy is “Summer In The City”. Nelly and the boys have the knack. Just don’t overlook the hot beats brewed up by St. Louis’ own Jason “Jay-E” Epperson and his crew Basement Beats.
Some tracks aren’t up to par until Nelly breaks it down. Take “Show Em What They Won” for example. The other rhymes roll slow and sound tired, but Nelly burns up the mic. “Scandalous” is a track where it’s not necessary for Nelly to carry the crew as the crunchy beat asks for a darker side.
