Corporate Line: It’s rare that a drummer would have such a noteworthy career – so respected and significant that a highly anticipated box set would be devoted to his many accomplishments and then released to an eager and adoring public. But then, Ringo Starr is no ordinary drummer.
The Good:
“I Think Therefore I Rock N Roll” – Sure to be a big hit when you see Ringo live.
“English Garden” – Borrows from Paul McCartney and Wings but is not without merit.
The Mediocre:
“Write One For Me” – Willie Nelson pitches in… I’m just not sure what happened to their pitch.
“Never Without You” – A nice sentiment to the passing of George Harrison.
“Eye To Eye” – Production values aren’t bad and it sounds like Ringo has been updated. The song however isn’t very interesting.
“Memphis In Your Mind” – Fun.
“Elizabeth Reigns” – Borrows a lot from the psychedelic period to the Beatles.
“Missouri Loves Company” – I’m sure everyone from St. Louis to Kansas City will be happy that they get some love. The song has its moments.
The Bad:
Nothing really.
Frankly: I love the Beatles but haven’t been able to really get into Ringo Starr except for the occasional track. Ringo Rama is typical Ringo; full of life but lacking much substance.
