Corporate Line: Starsailor’s eagerly awaited second album, ‘Silence Is Easy’, is an album of revelation, both musically and personally. For the band, its writing and recording has reaffirmed their place in the world: their calling is to communicate emotionally through song, simple as that. For the rest of us, its revelatory kick is in the further unfolding of a mighty talent. There are even more sides to this diamond than their million-selling debut album, ‘Love Is Here’, hinted at.
The Good:
Fidelity Lovely so what happened to the rest of the song? Is it really only two minutes long? Wonder if they ran out of ideas.
Bring My Love A Callous, lovely song.
Four To The Floor Starsailor waits until late in the record to turn it all around. Very interesting and unique song yes!
The Average:
Music Was Saved A modest song that isn’t going to move them further up their little melodic ladder.
Silence Is Easy James Walsh’s vocals are near soothing but when you listen to the actual words you wonder how long did it take to write these songs up where is the depth?
Telling Them Sure they shoot for the stars but get caught somewhere between boring and boring.
Shark Food It’s a pisser because the song is lovely but why does James have to sing the same thing over and over and over again? He couldn’t come up with a few verses to distract us?
The Ugly: Nothing in particular.
Frankly: Starsailor has enough talent to be stars if they weren’t such lazy songwriters. They give us grand schemes though they can only muster trite soundbits for lyrics. Shame on you!
