Who? Soul Hooligan
From? Brentwood, Essex (UK)
Sounds like? From Fatboy Slim to Brit rock psychedelia.
In your soul:
“Soul Searching” and “Who’s To Say” – The most understated tracks and also the most interesting as they delve into the blues.
“Algebra” – The hip-hop aspect this time around works well atop a potent musical backdrop.
“Addicted” – A sweet introduction that becomes one with the vocals and is a complete step in another direction from some of the other tracks.
On your tongue:
“Turn Your Head Around” and “Psychedelic Soul” – Interesting, but lacking anything to hang onto.
“Numb In Both Lips” – The hip-hop style has this cool vibe to it but its too Young M.C. and not enough soul to be taken for anything more interesting.
Irritating your skin:
“Night Owl” – When did Hootie join these guys? Ouch.
“Stoop Kid” – Huh? Good beat, but this song sucks. How about more Sitar and less rapping?
