Soul Assassins’ design beats as pure as gold. They allow artists to exercise their skills in a quality environment, a playing field that is ready for action, never limiting skills that are otherwise underutilized.
Kool G. Rap is the first to get off on “Real Life”. Then the keys are turned over to Xzibit, King Tee, and Muggs for “You Better Believe”. “This Some’n To” unfolds a canvas for the Goodie Mob to paint rhymes. The album’s best track is also a place where Dj Muggs feels most comfortable: with his crew, Cypress Hill. “Don’t Trip” kicks the freshest beat with the hottest hook.
The one problem with the album is that the loops it brings are just too heavy on synthetic strings. The orchestral sound can be warm, but here it’s too much of a good thing.
