Sister Hazel is best known for their number one hit single, “All For You”. If you don’t remember the track, that’s fine. You’ll get more of that same sound on their latest release, Fortress.
“Change Your Mind” has single potential, but I enjoyed the thirty plus second jamboree, “Back Porch”, much more. Up until the sixth, “Surreal”, every track before it sounded exactly the same. “Surreal” goes against the grain and wakes you up with some classic rock damage. Again, they go with the classic rock sound, borrowing a lot from the Black Crowes on “Save Me”.
As much as I like the Sister Hazel sound, it wears on you. Especially after you hear it track after track, ten times or more. But then again it can also pull you in.
