Slash hasn’t had much success since Guns ‘N’ Roses. His band, Slash’s Snakepit, has released album after album without so much as a whisper. Now they have another album to try out on the world, Ain’t Life Grand. Let’s find out how grand it is for Slash. “Been There Lately” opens with a lackluster boost into the next twelve tracks. “Just Like Anything” is lyrically devoid of life. The attempt at a ballad on “Back To The Moment” is like waiting for death. “The Truth” is the only song worth a listen.
If you enjoyed the anthems of the ’80’s, then you may like “Life’s Sweet Drug”. Hell, you may even enjoy this whole album. I just don’t think Slash will ever be the same without GNR. Sorry, but chemistry is important and this album has none.
