Corporate Line: Thoughtful heavy music. Melodic heavy music. Smile Empty Soul proves that the terms don’t have to be mutually exclusive.
The Good:
“Silhouettes” – Deep. Something most of us can relate to as we hope to be better.
“This Is War” – Thought provoking and a good song.
The Marginal:
“Bottom Of A Bottle” – A track you listen to with interest even though the song doesn’t push many boundaries or sound different from most rock bands today.
“For You” – Sounds like a less anthematic Silverchair ballad.
“Every Sunday” – Sure they can rock, but it’s more interesting when they don’t rock so hard.
“Nowhere Kids” – An almost anthem.
The Bad:
Nothing to complain about.
Frankly: Smile Empty Soul has a familiar sound of the newer Silverchair as the pain, sorrow and maturity emanate. Give it a good long listen.
