Stephan Simmonds has called many lands home, but no matter where he rested his feet, music has always been his universal language. Simmonds has a voice that lasts and prospers no matter the melody or musical background.
“I Can’t Do That” sweats acidic dance moves. Simmonds bleeds like D’Angelo while spilling his soul like Stevie Wonder. “Get Down” presses back into the ’70’s when Stevie Wonder was master of soul.
It was in Sweden where “Tears Never Dry” earned accolades and awards. “Let It Go” has the cold, late night solitary feeling we all loath when alone. It’s sweet in its embittered way.
Stephan Simmonds has voice enough to be a star in America. Whether his songs are radio friendly enough to compete with the Backstreet Boys and NSYNC, I don’t know, but Simmonds definitely has an album ready to be enjoyed.
