Sevendust – Seasons

Sevendust
Artist: Sevendust
Title: Seasons
Label: TVT
Rating: 5/10

Corporate Line: “This is a recovery record,” says Sevendust drummer Morgan Rose candidly about the band’s fourth studio album, Seasons. “A bulk of the record is just dedicated to the realization that we’ve done some bad things to ourselves and people around us over the long haul.”

The Good:
“Separate” and “Skeleton Song” – Corny, but sometimes corny can be good.

The Average:
“Seasons” – They get so close to having a big song that could have defined the next step, but its still out of reach.
“Disease” – “Tattoo the world and change everything.” Not exactly cutting edge lyrics.
“Enemy” – Sevendust is still angry – which means they still run around with that old school sound that Korn is still trying to rebirth. There is too much talent here for that.
“Honesty” – Sevendust goes with three slow songs in a row and this one gets stuck in the middle. It doesn’t go anywhere, not to your heart nor soul.
“Disgrace” – Maybe it’s me but Sevendust sounds like they are trying to hard. It’s okay to rock.

The Ugly:
Because Sevendust is so tight all the way around it’s hard to get disgusted.

Frankly: It’s typical Sevendust. Someday they might grow and give us a real onslaught. Remember Clear Pepsi? Well Sevendust is a lot like that; transparent and a bad replica of the original.
