Jon Secada has a great voice, so to get a chance to hear him sing some great Christmas songs is a treat.
On the opener, “Cradle In Bethlehem”, with orchestra in tow, Secada gives his mild and lovely voice a chance to lay in between the notes beautifully. The trophy songs are “Silent Night” and “The Christmas Song”, for which Mel Torme might be jealous, and “O Holy Night”. I guess I’m a traditionalist, but I love that Secada didn’t try to gussy up these tracks, instead offering an original rendition.
The most obvious thing about this record is how great the orchestra sounds. I could have listened to this record without Jon Secada singing, so imagine the delight to have both. This is a wonderful holiday album.
