CORPORATE LINE: For what seemed like an eternity, blue-eyed country soul singer Julie Roberts sat just a few feet away from the man who could make all of her dreams come true. But she never uttered a word to him about it.
THE GREAT:
“Break Down Here” – Most of us can relate to breaking down in a car and all of us can relate to breaking down in life. Roberts gives it her style and wins us over.
“Unlove Me” – When was the last time an understated song touched you? Often understated comes off monotonous however Roberts makes it wonderful.
“You Ain’t Down Home” – Robert’s voice is like gold with a little bit of Tanya Tucker to top it off.
“I Can’t Get Over You” – Admittedly—tears formed listening and its wonderful to have a song make me feel something again.
“Wake Up Older” – Those slow Country songs can occasionally sound like a worn-out tire yet Roberts makes them sound refreshing.
“If You Had Called Yesterday” – Gorgeous.
THE AVERAGE:
“Just ‘Cause We Can” – Average doesn’t mean bad. Roberts’ voice is infectious. It feels wrong to say it is average.
THE BAD:
Not even close.
FRANKLY: Julie Roberts is a newcomer that isn’t going to be a here today and gone tomorrow. In a time of sexy, over-the-top country songs, Julie Roberts brings the heart and soul of country music back.
