Red hot:
“By The Way” – Lovely. It picks up where Californication left off.
“Can’t Stop” and “Dosed” – Simple perfection.
“Warm Tape” – The trippy effects don’t wear off.
“Don’t Forget Me” – Lovely.

Simmering:
“Universally Speaking” – Simple, beautiful and a good deal more.
“I Could Die For You” – Gorgeous, oddly reminds me of Sugar Ray. Maybe it’s just me.
“Cabron” – An interesting and offbeat track.

Chilly:
You find something boring then let me know.

By The Way is extremely mellow for a Chili Peppers record. It’s not to be confused with boredom however. As simple, as basic as the record seems it’s definitely interesting and powerful.
