CORPORATE LINE: In the midst of an unpredictable election year, what better band to resurface than the once and, if they have their way, future leaders of buoyant, absurdist rock, the Presidents of the United States of America? The newly-reunited PUSA has been in the studio cooking up a new album, a new platform, as it were, for playfulness in rock, featuring 14 songs including the already hit single “Some Postman”.
THE GREAT:
“Some Postman” – Absolutely oddball stuff and just as Fountains of Wayne grooved everyone with their weird style back come PUSA to get us grooving.
“Munky River” – PUSA’s usual bizarre song that has a sweet chorus even though we could care less about the rest of the song.
THE AVERAGE:
“Love Everybody” – Good sentiment—average song.
“Jennifer’s Jacket” – Sounds like an Adam Sandler song—the only difference is that Sandler’s song would have been funny.
THE BAD:
“Clean Machine” – There is nothing funny, good, or interesting about this.
“Zero Friction” – As dated as the first PUSA album would sound right now.
“Poke And Destroy” – God-awful. I’ve heard fourteen-year-old kids making better racket.
FRANKLY: You either like the Presidents of the United States of America or you don’t. You either get them or you don’t. Whether you like them or get them, Love Everybody stinks like cheese left out in the sun.
