The Pierces are two sisters who seem to have pretty good chemistry together, just a real lack of good songs. Their vocal harmonies are beautiful, even when the songs are not.
They open with “The Way”, longing for the answer to love lost. It seems this theme is one that runs throughout the entire album. That isn’t necessarily a bad thing, but here it just gets too monotonous. They get bogged down and can’t seem to dig themselves out.
The Pierces have talent; they’re not just posing as a couple of second rate Jewel wannabes. But in order to prove they’re great, they need a song that’s really good. Here they offer nothing that sticks with you and it hurts.
