Stunning sixteen-year-old Billie has her sights set on a successful career in the U.S. with her debut album, Honey To The B . The first single, “Because We Want To”, debuted at number one on the UK pop charts, making her the first ever British female solo artist to do so. The album is all about pop and the hot teen market that it hopes to attract.
The first track, “Honey To The Bee”, sounds strikingly similar to the single “Never Ever” from the successful UK group All Saints, as does much of the album. Honey To The B does include some standouts, such as “Girlfriend” and “Party On The Phone”, which could boost her success. “Girlfriend” is a catchy, feel-good pop song about a girl who simply wants to know if the guy she wants has a girlfriend and what he is thinking of her. This track displays Billie’s vocal ability to its fullest. “Party On The Phone” is the kind of jam that makes a high school girl get in front of a mirror and start singing and dancing. To say the least, it is carefree and funky.
Other tracks, such as “I Dream” and “She Wants You”, have definite hit potential and show her versatility in going from a beautiful ballad to a club track. Finally, the album finishes off with the first single, “Because We Want To”, which is a flashback to the Spice Girls and girl power. Billie says that she and anyone can do whatever they want to because they want to do it. This confidence finishes off the album, making you want to hear more of the next big UK export Billie. If you like the Spice Girls or Britney Spears, then give Billie a try. If you don’t like it at first, listen again. It will grow on you, I promise.
