Prodigy – Always Outnumbered Never Outgunned

Prodigy
Artist: Prodigy
Title: Always Outnumbered Never Outgunned
Label: Maverick
Rating: 6/10

CORPORATE LINE: Always Outnumbered, Never Outgunned is The Prodigy’s long-awaited follow-up to 1997’s double-platinum #1- charting The Fat Of The Land. Returning with a sleazy, funky and far more punk album than anything Liam Howlett has ever recorded, the premier electronica dance act for the alternative masses targets both its core fan base at clubs and a new generation of technofreaks with Always Outnumbered, Never Outgunned.

THE GREAT:
“Girls” – The beats are hot—the rest is negotiable.
“Memphis Bells” – Howlett breaks it down. This is the Prodigy we’ve come to know and love.

THE AVERAGE:
“Spitfire” – Fans who jump on and off the bandwagon have come to expect these kinds of radio singles especially after Fat of the Land.
“Wake Up Call” – Howlett leans on rap to make up for what is missing.
“Phoenix” – Kurt Cobain is rolling over in his grave.

THE BAD:
Nothing.

FRANKLY: Prodigy’s Music for the Jilted Generation has been tough act to follow. After seven years Liam Howlett hasn’t moved forward. Sadly, Always Outnumbered Never Outgunned is forgettable and doesn’t to further the brilliance of Prodigy.
