P.O.D. – Satellite

P.O.D.
Artist: P.O.D.
Title: Satellite
Label: Atlantic
Rating: 8/10

P.O.D. are self-proclaimed holy rollers. Their album is inspired and blasts beyond the woeful state of rap-metal. Satellite is potent, impassioned, and possessed.

“Boom” never rests as “Set It Off” looks to do just that. There are tracks like “The Messenja” that grow and grow until you and they are ready to explode. Many of the songs prove you can be pissed off but you don’t have to hate. “Alive” does just that, and does it well.

P.O.D. aren’t all about being beasts of burden. They have their softer, soulful sides. “Youth Of The Nation” cranks it down a notch, but the hook is, after all, a good sell. “Ridiculous” breaks up any possible monotony.

I’m not a metal head, but I like P.O.D.’s effort. Satellite is a great mix, and even though it burns fiercely in an overburdened genre, it still sounds fresh. If there is a light at the end of the tunnel, then P.O.D. might be the band to ignite it.
