Corporate Line: Something full of love, soul and rock ‘n’ roll from a Poor Man’s Son.
The Good:
“Two Lost Angels” – Wonderful.
“Cecilia” and “Cry Freedom” – Perez sounds like the John Cougar reincarnate.
“Something Crazy” – Simple songs don’t always mean they aren’t good or deep.
“Love, Soul, Rock N’ Roll” – Perez saves the best for last.
The Marginal:
“Beautiful Mistakes” and “American Classic” – Wonderful verses, but the chorus misses the mark.
“Southwest Side” – Sounds like the Wallflowers, only better.
The Bad:
“Cold Hard Rain” and “Forever 17” – Not terrible, but not up to what the first half of this album has given us.
Frankly: Franky Perez reminds me of John Mellencamp when he was cool and still called Cougar.
