Nine Days wears their rock/pop mix well. I don’t want to compare them to Third Eye Blind, but they have that same flavor and it can’t be denied. “Absolutely (Story Of A Girl)” has a great hook that will certainly storm radio.
“If I Am” may put a tear in your eye, but wipe it away. They won’t leave you in despair when “End Up Alone” arrives with its sweet chorus, though the lyrics are suspect. Bob Dylan is made accessible on, well, “Bob Dylan”.
The big surprise is “257 Weeks”. The piano takes them from the ordinary rock guitar track for a few minutes at least, and it’s that break in monotony that I applaud. “Bitter” is another change of pace as the string section adds depth to a one- dimensional band.
Nine Days closes with “Wanna Be”, which sounds like Bryan Adams stole the mic and wouldn’t give it back. To be honest, the song is six minutes of beauty. Nine Days are pretty eclectic. Sometimes that’s a bad thing, but for them it fits nicely.
