Dave Navarro – Trust No One

Dave Navarro
Artist: Dave Navarro
Title: Trust No One
Label: Capitol
Rating: 6.5/10

Jane’s Addiction broke up. Dave Navarro being the phenom that he was surely wasn’t going to be out of business long. The Red Hot Chili Peppers needed someone to bring the axe hard and be as odd as the rest of the group, Navarro seemingly fit in like a glove. That didn’t work either. Navarro just never seemed to fit in. “Very Little Daylight” strokes that exact sentiment.

“Rexall” brings a beautiful verse that is interrupted by an inane chorus. “Hungry” brandishes a larger than life chorus and an army full of psychological work. “Mourning Son” is the first track that Navarro gets to the task he is known best for while he gets off on a solo and all that anger stems from losing his mother.

Trust No One says it all. This album is completely schizophrenic. Dave Navarro is a lot of things, boring isn’t one of them. From being a supposed stalker, to his obvious darkness, on to his guitar god potential you just can’t figure Navarro out. Trust No One isn’t going to further investigate all things Navarro, but its as close as perhaps anyone has ever been.
