Mytown isn’t your average boy band. Coming to us from Dublin, Ireland, these four guys have more to offer than just singing and dancing. They’ve written or co-written all but one song on their album; “Everything She Wants” was originally recorded by Wham! and written by George Michael. Mytown does the song justice.
Teddy Riley produces the dance track, “Body Bumpin’”. The track thumps as Mytown keeps up their end of the bargain with sly lyrics and vocals. Danny plays guitar on “Party All Night”. It’s not as much of a party as “Body Bumpin’”, but it’s still fun.
“Lifetime Affair” shifts into reverse with a ballad that will have the girls swooning. “Now That I Found You” is an even stronger ballad that could end up being the theme song for many couples this summer. I just can’t get over the number of ballads on the album and how they sound so strong, even when back to back. They aren’t as monotonous as you’d think. Each track has its own flavor, and that makes them sound fresh. “Love Sent Angel” is another solid song.
“I Like Your Style” is one of those tracks that is sort of middle of the road. It’s not a dance track or a ballad. It’s just blissful pop.
“The Day” winds down what is an amazing freshman effort by Mytown. Even though Mytown will be known best for their lovely ballads, you can’t overlook those slamming dance tracks. I’m shocked that I enjoyed this album as much as I did. Every track is good because of its R&B/pop mix. Make no mistake; Mytown is for real.
