Corporate Line: In the 10 years he’s been on the hip hop scene, Mr. Cheeks’ fearlessness has never been more apparent than on his new CD, Back Again his second solo for Universal Records.
The Good:
“Supposed To” – Cheeks brings the rhymes while Floetry brings the harmonies.
“Reminisce” – The beat gave me goose bumps as I reminisced back to the days when Pete Rock was the man.
“The Hussle”
“Back Again” – Hot.
“I Apologize” – Glenn Lewis really outshines Cheeks here.
“The Wire” – Cheeks has a chance to get live by himself.
The Mediocre:
“Crush On You”
“Let’s Get Wild” – Floetry can’t muster the same magic here.
The Bad:
Nothing.
Frankly: Mr. Cheeks does listeners a huge favor by bringing less songs but delivering each with quality. Nothing is worse than getting twenty-five tracks and only five are good, Cheeks delivers eleven tracks and you won’t find a reason to skip.
