Company Line: Now stepping front and center with his debut solo album, “Murphy’s Law,” Murphy is rewriting the rules of the game and proving that his St. Lunatics colleague Nelly isn’t the only one with serious skills.
The Good:
“This Goes Out” and “Hold Up” f/Nelly – Nelly saves the day.
“Shake Ya Tailfeather” f/Nelly and P. Diddy – Diddy can barely rhyme but Nelly pours like honey.
The Average:
“Red Hot Riplets” f/St. Lunatics – “All that and a bag of chips/ I just wanna know if I can dip”. Murphy Lee is no M.C.
“Don’t Blow It” f/City Spud – Sing song hook but the rhymes are the weak link.
“Grandpa Gametight” – Melody alone doesn’t make a song tight.
“Luv Me Baby” – Murphy loses any respect as he tossing around the ‘izzle’ like he’s Snoop and never recovers with the weak rhymes.
The Ugly:
“Wat Da Hook Gon Be” f/Jermaine Dupri – Just as Nelly saves the day, Dupri ruins it.
Frankly: There is a reason Murphy Lee has a guest artist on every song but one, and it’s obvious why – because he lacks the skills to carry both a song and an album. Nelly threw the dog a bone and he dropped it.
