Straight out of Ohio comes Moth. A short name for a band with seriously short attention spans as they roar through each and every song.
“Thinking Please” grabs you with what sounds like chaos but you soon realize its all controlled and essential. Even more attempt at harmony during what seems like disharmony is “Hearing Things”. Seriously at first I couldn’t figure out if I cared but after a few occasions to listen it grew and grew.
There are some songs that get more annoying with time like “Burning Down My Sanity” which is nothing more than an itchy rash. Just as irritating comes “Last Night’s Dream”. The vocals are like scratching your nails across a chalkboard and what is up with that ‘uh-huh’ loop? It’s terribly distracting and doubles the pain inflicted upon my ears. And the album is loud for no other reason than to be loud “Plastics Campaign”.
Panning artists isn’t really fun, well okay sometimes it is, but here it comes almost painfully. There seems to be some good here. Moth has a great sensibility to write songs, but they seem to let themselves go a rye. “Lovers Quarrel” really takes off, but then the bridge comes in and completely destroys any hope of making this song good. I’m afraid to say that after the third song these guys just seem to give up on making harmonies and cohesive songs. They almost pull it out on the last track “Not Really” but to bad, the damage has already been done.
