From South London comes a four-letter word that you may not have heard before: Moke. Hailed for their freshman release, Moke is back with Carnival, and there are no smoke and mirrors in this one.
Carnival opens with “My Degeneration”, their twist on the Who classic “My Generation”. I don’t know if it’s a trend, but “Slide” sounds an awful lot like something the Goo Goo Dolls have released. Even “Strange Days” sounds so familiar that you get taken aback trying to figure out where you heard it all before.
Moke can come distinctly also. Just listen to the simple yet sweet “I Don’t Mind”. The problem with Carnival is that you have to go a half dozen songs in before you hear anything unique from Moke, and that can’t be good.
