Joey McIntyre’s solo debut album, Stay the Same, has him hoping that his new success will do just that. This album will find fans from a new generation of pop lovers as well as those who have followed his career since his days as a member of the New Kids On The Block.
McIntyre’s pretty boy looks and silky voice should catapult him once again into pop stardom and teen idol status. With the first single, “Stay the Same”, not surprisingly moving up the Billboard charts, it won’t be long before his name is mentioned along with the likes of other pop teen idols such as Hanson, ‘NSYNC, and Backstreet Boys.
The album is well produced with a pop-funk feel. It is made up of love ballads and upbeat tunes coated with saccharine hooks that bounce along strong melodic currents from song to song. After listening to the album, you’ll quickly realize that many of the songs have ‘hit potential’ written all over them. Standouts include “I Love You Came Too Late”, “All I Wanna Do”, and the symphonic “I Cried”. If the album gets radio and video support, nothing should be able to stop it from a certain run up the Billboard charts.
Stay The Same is a very good album. Joey McIntyre has proven that his NKOTB stint was no facade. It won’t be long before he steps out of that legendary teen group’s shadow and into his own spotlight.
