Ricky Martin – Sound Loaded

Ricky Martin
Artist: Ricky Martin
Title: Sound Loaded
Label: Columbia
Rating: 7/10

I wonder if it took as many people to come up with the album’s title, Sound Loaded, as it took to write and produce this ditty. With “Livin’ La Vida Loca” writer Desmond Child, Robi Rosa (Menudo), Emilio Estefan, Jr., Jon Secada, and Kenny Aronoff in tow, you have to expect this album to be as big as the last; they have at least fifty million albums sold between them.

The crew behind Ricky Martin makes great music. Period. Ricky Martin adds the touch that turns it truly golden. Not just with his voice, but of course his pretty face and the smile that makes all the girls melt.

Sound Loaded is indeed loaded. There are all sorts of flavors spread throughout this record. All these spirits add a wonderful stew. Songs like “One Night Man”, “Amor”, “Saint Tropez”, and “She Bangs” speak of different cultural influences, but never sound out of place.

“Loaded” sounds similar to “La Vida Loca”. “If You Ever Saw Her” isn’t as nice as the rest. Though “Come To Me” is perhaps Martin’s most soulful track ever, “Cambia La Piel” just might be his best.

Ricky Martin won’t try to fool you with a title like Sound Loaded. Well, maybe he would, but he doesn’t have to settle for trickery when the proof is all here.
