The Corporate Line: Massive Attack have always been musical innovators, pushing barriers forward with every record. They are one of the UK’s most inspirational and influential bands – all three of their studio albums have met with huge critical and commercial success and their musical legacy has provided the blueprint for a sound that influenced a whole generation of dance and pop acts alike.
The Good:
“What Your Soul Sings” – Sinead O’Connor takes this track to another level with her gorgeous vocals atop lush instrumentation.
“A Prayer For England” – Blissful. The one track that completely takes hold of you.
“Butterfly Caught” – Beautiful. There is an eeriness that floats through the underbelly.
The Bad:
Depending upon your taste some of these tracks such as “Everywhen” might seem docile.
Frankly: It’s almost impossible to follow up Mezzanine. I’m just glad they tried even though this falls off considerably from past releases.
