Mannie Fresh – The Mind of Mannie Fresh

Mannie Fresh
Artist: Mannie Fresh
Title: The Mind of Mannie Fresh
Label: Cash Money
Rating: 5/10

CORPORATE LINE: If ever there was, anybody who knew how to skyrocket a successful career to a whole new level surely it has to be Cash Money Records in-house producer Mannie Fresh. With production credits on more than 20 albums totaling over 23 million units collectively sales, Mannie is unquestionably one of the most important hip-hop producers today. He is the musical mastermind behind the phenomenal rise of the Cash Money dynasty. As a performer, Mannie Fresh is one half of the platinum-selling duo the Big Tymers, whose five albums, How You Luv That Vol. 1, How You Luv That Vol. II, I Got That Work, Hood Rich and Big Money Heavy Weight have sold over four million units, making the Cash Money artist one of the more sought after producer/performers in hip-hop.

THE GREAT:
“Lady Lady” – Smooth, subtle and because Manny doesn’t try to be hardcore it really works. Manny is better going the route of Puffy rather than Juvenile.
“How We Ride” f/Jasper, Bun-B, David Banner – A completely shameless radio single yet it still moves your head.

THE AVERAGE:
“Conversation” f/tateeze – Mannie Fresh’s duet brings a few laughs because it’s hard to take the lyrics serious.
“We Fresh” – Mannie goes old school and his lyrics are also a throwback because they aren’t up to par with those rockin’ the mic today.

THE BAD:
“Pu**y Power” – Mannie tries to go 2 Live—to bad its 2 weak.

FRANKLY: Mannie Fresh loads up way to many songs on The Mind of Mannie Fresh. Considering three-quarters of the record is filler Mannie could have cut twenty songs and we wouldn’t have missed them. Manny is the beat master for Cash Money but M.C.ing isn’t his strong suit.
