Company Line: Marilyn Manson brings us The Golden Age of Grotesque. It’s not your typical Manson. Manson brings something old something new, something borrowed, and mostly average material. So where is Manson’s A game?
The Good:
“The Golden Age Of Grotesque” – Classic Manson; scary, squeaky, and odd.
The Marginal:
“This Is The New Sh*t” – Actually it sounds like the same old sh*t.
“Mobscene” – The cheerleader chant ‘be-obscene’ is funny. The rest, well you can have it.
The Ugly:
“Use Your Fist And Not Your Mouth” – You can’t be serious with this nonsense.
“(S)Aint” and “Ka-boom Ka-Boom” – Another track that is laughable. In an attempt to write a melody Manson has sacrificed quality lyrics. What makeup is he going to wear this go around? Clown makeup might fit best.
Frankly: Marilyn Manson should have called this record ‘Watered Down’. Manson has fallen a long way since he’s stepped away from the production of Trent Reznor. Manson wanted to have his cake and make it too, well it doesn’t taste so good.
