How many kids did Bob Marley have? Damian Marley is here with a voice that is remarkably his own while still holding the ghostly cover of his father that peeks out from behind the Halfway Tree.
Damian follows in his father’s footsteps with the track “Educated Fools”. Although the song features Treach from Naughty By Nature, you never even notice as Damian dominates the track entirely, speaking out on the brainwashing of today’s youth. “More Justice” is another certain track you just won’t be skipping over. “Catch A Fire” picks up where The Wailers’ “Slave Driver” left off with a masterful touch.
“Still Searching” is not a typical love song, perhaps lust is more accurate. It’s much better than the pop attempt on “She Needs My Love”, which in the midst of all the politics and soulful songs sounds absolutely misplaced.
“Give Dem Some Way” saves the album’s lagging back end with its genuine focus and message.
