Magic – White Eyes

Magic
Artist: Magic
Title: White Eyes
Label: No Limit
Rating: 5/10

Corporate Line: Artists often use their own lives in order to ground their work. For Magic, a wealth of titillating experiences is only a thought away. The New Orleans rapper, who hit the scene with 1998’s underground critically acclaimed “Sky’s The Limit” and 1999’s well-received “Thuggin,’” grew up in the rough Crescent City streets and toured the world with mentor Master P as a part of the mighty No Limit Records family.

The Good:
“War” – Good hook.
“Hustler” – Smooth style that rolls right into a tight hook.
“Smoke On” – Stupid, but funny. Just not as funny as Afroman.

The Mediocre:
“I’ll Be There” – If it wasn’t a rip-off of the Nelly song I might like it better.
“What U Gonna Do” – Could have been better, makes you wonder why someone would ruin a good song with senseless cursing.
“Shake A Little Something” – It could cause you to wiggle it.
“With You” – Magic gets his job done, but the vocals are terrible.

The Bad:
“Forgive Is” – Magic spends an entire album swearing like a trucker and talking about women as hos and about smoking pot and now he wants the Lord to forgive him? Stupid.
“Friday” – Nasty vocals completely ruin this track.
“What”

Frankly: Average hip-hop record at best and nothing new to be heard.
