Unloco got lucky. They handed over a demo to Goldfinger guitarist Charlie Paulson and the next thing they know they’re signed to the material girl’s record label. Nice. But now they need to back it up with their first release, Healing.
The first two tracks, “Useless” and “Clean”, are as melodic as they are heavy. Seems they’ve taken the recent road to bringing metal back to its melodic roots.
With “Naïve” they decide to get heavy with the whole growl thing happening, but it’s not as good as what else they have to offer. It just roams too close to the Limp Bizkit meadow. “Nothing” doesn’t stray to far from the wolf and could certainly be useful when you are going to destroy something, including your mind.
Unloco ends Healing with the track “Bystander”, announcing “This is not the same.” I hate to burst their bubble, but it really is. Unloco has a good sound, it’s just one they share with a lot of other artists.
