UB40 has enjoyed a long career with a few decent hits. Their success has mostly been outside of the US, the exceptions being “Red, Red Wine”, “Can’t Help Falling In Love”, and “Here I Am Come And Take Me”.
Now here is my problem with their three top ten hits. They are all cover songs. UB40 didn’t write these songs, they just added their reggae flavor to already existing hit songs. Something just doesn’t seem right when your greatest hits consist of someone else’s songs. Even when your version is quite good, how do you throw them on a cd featuring the very best of your music? I’ll leave that up to you to answer.
