Company Line: Beth Orton does the remix.
The Good:
“Ooh Child” – This remake of The Five Stairsteps hit and remix is absolutely gorgeous. Ranks up there with Aimee Mann’s remake of “One”.
“Ali’s Waltz” – Beth rings you out with these passionate ballads. You almost ache with her.
“Bobby Gentry” – Her soul burns you up like a moth to the flame.
The Average:
“Concrete Sky” – Slow, but not lacking in grace.
“Thinking About Tomorrow” – Unusual pairing, like a movie that you can’t make out – either you love it or hate it.
The Ugly:
“Daybreaker” – Almost works, when the rapping starts it’s all over.
Frankly: Beth Orton is a wonderful artist. I hope this record would find its way into many hands and perhaps bring more fans her way.
