This is a soundtrack for the film About A Boy, but there is only one artist performing on it, Badly Drawn Boy. So is it a soundtrack or a new record? I’d like to know too.
The Good:
“Something To Talk About” – An interesting toe-tapping affair.
“Silent Sigh” and “River Sea Ocean” – The simpler songs are sometimes the best.
“Walking Out Of Stride” – Personal favorite from the tinkling strings to the vocals.
“Donna & Butzon” – Oh give me more and then never let it end.
The not-so Bad:
“A Fear You Reach” and “Above You, Below Me” – Typical and lovely.
“I Love N.Y.E.” – Gorgeous instrumental piece.
“Five Me Away” – The definition of effervescent. Beck be afraid.
The Ugly:
BDB never does anything the ugly way.
A soundtrack that is really a solo release. If you are a fan of Badly Drawn Boy then you should be all over this. If you’ve never heard of him then what is wrong with you?
